We have listed out our top 20 Chicago summer bucket list ideas below:
Try a new food at a local farmer’s market… Green City Market is one of our favorites!
Pack a picnic + make a HUGE sand castle at one of our many beaches
Take the train downtown to the big Maggie Daley Park
Make homemade popsicles (idea recipe found HERE)
If you have a projector + outdoor wall = outdoor movie night!
Check out the big splash pad at Gallagher Way Park (next to Wrigley + get yourself some Jeni’s Ice Cream after!)
Go to your nearest “Movie in the Park” hosted by the Chicago Park Districts
Take a picture(s) in front of one of the MANY mural walls around Chicago
Make a scavenger hunt for the Lincoln Park Zoo
Go hiking along the family-friendly trails of Starved Rock State Park (in Utica, IL about a 2.5 hour drive) southwest)
Travel to Lisle, IL to visit their Sensory Garden Playground - check out their website for storytime, play dates, and other events!
Plant an herb garden as a family (mom + dad, we know you want some mint for summer mojitos…)
Fly a kite at the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Kite Festival on August 10th-11th

Get your wiggles out with the Old Town School of Folk’s Wiggleworms at Gallagher Way (then stay for the splash pad)
