Treating your health like Amazon Prime...
/Reminder of the day, week, month and year:
HEALING TAKES TIME.
We live in a world where we expect Amazon Prime results for just about everything imaginable!
-Place an order and receive a package in 2 days.
-Order your groceries and get them received right to your door.
-Heck, even if you have a symptom you can video chat a doctor and get prescribed a medication within a few hours.
But when it comes to achieving overall health, healing takes time.
What is health?
We often want health NOW… but let’s be honest, most people don’t actually know how to define health! We all want to “feel good”, but feeling good doesn’t always equal great health. In most cases, we are choosing to mask symptoms instead of getting to the root cause of why symptoms are expressing themselves in the first place.
According to the World Health Organization, health is defined as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
What does this mean? It means that just because you aren’t expressing a symptom or diagnosed with a disease - health may not be present internally to its full potential. This is why it is extremely important to focus on preventative health all year round for yourself and for your family.
TRUE FACT: placing priority on health has never left anyone feeling regretful, but NOT placing priority on health has.
Here are some action steps towards emphasizing preventative health:
Eat whole foods:
Start shopping for foods found in the outside aisles of the store (foods found in the inner aisles are often highly processed - i.e. boxed and canned foods)Exercise regularly:
Consistency is key! Set that alarm and get up and move.Think of symptoms as WARNING signs rather than weaknesses:
Think about it: Is a headache a good or a bad thing? It may feel bad, but it is actually a healthy body response that something is internally wrong. Do you need to drink more water? Are you overly stressed? Did you need more sleep? Before jumping to the medicine cabinet, try stopping to listen to your body and see how you can support it well first with natural means.Get adjusted regularly:
Did you know that according to a 7-year study, individuals under consistent chiropractic care were found to have
-60% less hospital admissions
-59% less days in the hospital
-62% less outpatient surgeries
-85% less pharmaceutical costs
These action steps are going to result in instantaneous health, but your body is going to thank you in the long run!
