Water Intake 101: Why it's important, how much you need + your next steps!

“I don’t drink nearly enough water.”

Staying hydrated tends to be an aspect of health that people push to the side. It is important to note that drinking frequent cups of coffee and/or consuming sugary sports drinks do not count towards hydration. These drinks can actually lead to further dehydration! Drinking pure, clean water is the best way to fuel your body and maintain hydration throughout the day. Keep it simple and your body will thank you.

If you are concerned about dehydration, start tracking how many ounces of water you are consuming each day. A good rule of thumb is to drink half of your body weight in ounces each day. For example- if you weigh 150 lbs you should be consuming at least 75 ounces of water.

Here are some warning signs for dehydration:

  • Dry mouth

  • Sleepiness

  • Thirst

  • Decreased urination

  • Muscle weakness

  • Fatigue

  • Headache

  • Dizziness

  • Digestive issues
